The Best Places to Eat in Montross, VA (Local Favorites)
Our family loves to eat, and one of our favorite parts of hosting at Easthaven is sharing the restaurants we truly enjoy ourselves. We’ve tried just about everything around Montross, and these are the spots we consistently recommend to our guests—whether you’re traveling with kids, dining as a couple, or grabbing takeout to enjoy by the water.
Here’s our short list of favorite restaurants in Montross, VA, in no particular order.
Angelo’s Restaurant & Raw Bar
Angelo’s is a go-to for classic comfort food with something for everyone. Known for its pizza and fried oysters, it blends Italian and American favorites in a relaxed setting. The pizza is my personal favorite, my husband always orders the oysters, and the kids love the spaghetti. We recommend going earlier to avoid a wait—or grabbing carryout and enjoying dinner back at Easthaven with waterfront views.
Northern Neck Brewing Compay
This is one of those places where it’s impossible to pick a favorite dish. Northern Neck Brewing Company serves locally crafted beers, offers wines from nearby Ingleside Winery, and has a menu full of standouts—from fish tacos to rotating seasonal specials. There are games for kids, indoor and outdoor seating, and most weekends feature live music. We’ve been impressed by every band we’ve heard so far.
Fisher’s Roadhouse Café
The closest restaurant to Easthaven and a newer favorite in town, Fisher’s Roadhouse Café offers an upscale food-truck-style menu with outdoor seating. From donuts and cheesesteak fries to burgers, quesadillas, and even unexpected açaí bowls, we’ve never had a bad meal here. Portions are generous, and they just added a really fun kids area.
El Mariachi Restaurant
El Mariachi is a true hidden gem for authentic Mexican food in Montross. The service is always excellent, and our favorites include the fajitas and mole. It’s a reliable option when you’re craving bold flavors and a relaxed dining experience.
Art of Coffee
Art of Coffee is part café, part art gallery—and full of charm. Housed in what used to be a car garage, it’s a great spot for breakfast, lunch, or a coffee break. They offer allergy-friendly options, plus beer and wine. We love ordering a sandwich (which comes with a side, carrots, and a cookie) for an easy, satisfying lunch. And yes—artist palette plates are a thing here.
